Housing Needs Survey

Found out more and take the survey online at https://www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/.

Local people with a connection to Tideswell are being urged to take part in an online survey about their housing needs.

High property prices, expensive private rents and a shortage of affordable housing can make it a real challenge for people on more modest incomes to live in the Peak District National Park. For young people interested in setting up a home for the first time, older people who need to downsize, or families struggling in high cost rented homes, circumstances can force many to move away from where they have lived most of their lives.

The District Council’s corporate priorities involve enabling new affordable homes for local people where they are needed. In working with Tideswell Community Land Trust, there are growing concerns that there is unmet housing need in Tideswell and its adjoining parishes.

Before any options can be considered, we’re calling on the community to help us identify the type of affordable housing required to meet their demands. If you feel your housing is unsuitable, you wish to move in the next 5 years, and feel you have a local connection to the ward of Tideswell, please tell us about your housing issues in our survey.

Residents can answer the Housing Needs Survey via a questionnaire that will be posted to every address in the ward, or alternatively an online survey.

We also encourage anyone with a local connection to Tideswell ward but living elsewhere to complete the survey.

If a housing need can be evidenced via the survey, the council, in collaboration with partners and local communities, can help to enable the development of new affordable housing for local people.
