Housing Needs in Tideswell Ward
The most recent Housing Needs Survey was carried out by Derbyshire Dales District Council (DDDC) in Autumn 2025. This covered all the settlements in the Parishes of Tideswell, Litton and Wheston.
The survey showed that there is considerable housing need in Tideswell and Litton. A total of 45 households with connections to Tideswell or Litton are defined as being in housing need:
- Younger people who have had to move away from family to find more affordable accommodation.
- More elderly people whose current accommodation doesn’t meet their needs.
You can find the results of the Housing Needs Survey on the DDDC website.
The TDCLT are working with DDDC to identify a potential solution to address some of this housing need through a scheme of affordable housing. Any housing developed will be managed by a Housing Association and subject to the usual Peak District National Park "10-year connection" clause, where people have to demonstrate a connection to the Parish (or an adjoining Parish) for 10 years out of the last 20.
